The location was great, and the bar was ideal for couples or friends looking to enjoy a drink and chat while listening to the live band. I will definitely be returning!
With numerous new restaurants around the BGC area, one will never go hungry at any given time. Last night, after consideration of countless options, we decided to try Smith Butcher for the first time. We were welcomed by their security and waiting staff and opted to sit at the bar. The menu was patiently explained to us, drinks/cocktails were offered and suggestions made. We got the tenderloin with pepper rub, chicken with mustard (really good 0 but a tad salty), diced potatoes and calamari as appetizers and mojitos. Service was quick, friendly and non intrusive. Food was good was told tenderloin was really tender. The non smoking area on the ground floor was not as tight as the space suggests. We were there early enough not to catch the live band whom were just setting up as we left. Will probably catch them next time. The meal for 2 was pricey roughly Php1,300/person but worth it for the quality of food and service. Now let's see when we will be able to come back to enjoy the band this time. Their establishment is located behind Agave within the Hi street blocks of BGC.
Saw this place on the way back to hotel and decided to try it out. Menu is concise which for me is a good thing (if there are too many choices on the menu the chances are the food will be poor in my opinion). The name suggests that the main options are steaks, which is correct, but the cuts are not the best meats on the market but still enjoyable. One disappointment is that there are really no vegetable side dishes on offer other than salad. The night I was there a female solo singer was performing. She has a fantastic voice and performed some songs, which are dance songs, as ballads which was unique but unfortunately after a few songs you soon realised that whilst the singing was good the songs all sound the same and gets a bit boring. Should mention that the singer should not discourage you from visiting as it's about the food and ambience of the place which are both very acceptable.
August 15, 2015 1:55PM I ordered for the beef tenderloin steak and I asked for it to be cooked medium rare. I sliced through it immediately upon getting my order on the table. The meat was raw. Not even rare RAW. You know when the meat inside is still shiny and brown and not pink. I asked our server to send it back to the kitchen because I ordered medium rare. And the cook/chef argued for it to be sent back to our table because it was medium rare for her. I asked for it to be cooked a little more.. They served the meat well done. Right after, the cook stormed out of the restaurant. Maybe she was annoyed or something but she should probably not cook because she seems to hate it.
Although I typically don't enjoy steak, I decided to give this restaurant a try. I was pleasantly surprised by their sisig, which had a delicious cream-based sauce that was a new and exciting flavor for me. I also couldn't get enough of their Loaded Kamote chips - there was something about the dressing that made them stand out as my favorite. I also tried their Chicken Satay and absolutely loved it. The rub was just right, with a nutty and creamy flavor. To top it all off, they served the BEST Amaretto Sour in the BGC area.
