It's different from Daldongnae because they have two grills on each table: one electric grill for spicy chicken cheese and one gas grill for beef and pork ribs. Kobi is famous for their ddukboki (spicy rice cake) and their steak cuts are good. Each table requires 2 orders for the gas grill option, which costs $30 each. I ordered marinated beef (our favorite) and beef brisket for sesame oil dipping sauce. They provide lettuce to wrap the meat and offer free hot miso soup. Rice is extra, but they include two types of kimchi, marinated tofu, a large salad bowl, and pickled vegetables per table. One chicken and two beef orders were more than enough for my family of four. The restaurant is gluten-free and not fancy, with free parking next to TD Bank and a view of Canadian Tire at Centerpoint Mall. They have high chairs and wheelchair access.
My dining experience at this restaurant was phenomenal. Nate was our server and he was incredibly gracious, especially considering we were a couple of East Coasters who had no clue what to order. His level of service was so impressive that I thought he must be the owner. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lively, and we had a fantastic time. I highly recommend this place to others.
We’ve been to Kobi a few times for Korean bbq and like the food in general. However, we were disappointed with the service we received last night. The servers seemed annoyed from the moment we placed the order and gave us attitude throughout the meal....A server turned off the grill before the beef was fully cooked and gave us a look when we asked her to cook the beef longer. When we ordered more beef and asked for more side dishes, the server said we can only get one more set of side dishes. We enjoyed the food but think the service was unacceptable.
Don t look at the place just eat. Really good food and great experience. Fast service even if it was full.
It was my wife and I first time eating this type of Korean food. $18.99 for one serving BUT the menu states that you have to buy minimum 2 servings so basically $40 dinner tip. My wife told me that the spicy Korean chicken...with cheese is normally eaten when you're drunk or after a night of drinking back in Korea. The bahnchahn served with this dish was good which included korean style yellow soybean sprouts, Korean style spinach, beans, soy sauce egg, and kimchee. All the bahnchahn was good except the kimchee tasted a little too fermented (I eat kimchee at least every other day and every Korean knows when kimchee is just right, or has been too fermented). The mozzarella cheese was not very flavourful. I think marble cheddar cheese would have tasted better but I'm sure mozzarella melts better. Once is enough for me. I would not have spicy chicken and cheese again. Customer Service was very good.
