We went out for dinner, and my husband ordered fish and chips. This was the first time we were served Captain Highliner fish and chips, and we were very disappointed.
The breakfast food at this restaurant is excellent! It's wonderful to have a non-franchise local breakfast in the morning. The pancakes and skillet breakfast are especially delicious and enjoyable.
After reading the reviews I was looking forward to trying out Lumberjacks however I was extremely disappointed. There is a counter with stools but it isn't accessible due to tables being in the way. Seating is almost non-existent, two tables are pushed up against the counter and one table up against the front counter with a total of six chairs.Truthfully my first thought was "what a dump" and I almost walked back out however I was still trying to think positive after all, the reviews raved about the food. The menu is very limited and the prices were a little on the high side for my liking. We ordered two donairs, one order of fries and one canned pop and it came to over $25.00 with tax. The fries are frozen not fresh and the beef in my donair was tough to say the least. I honestly would not go back.
This place has two parts of their menu-the first is all traditional canadian fare (burgers, fries, poutine etc). and the second part is East Indian (shawarma, falafel, wraps etc.), My boyfriend had the cheese burger and I had chicken shawarma. Both meals were large and tasty and came to $24 after tax. The owner was friendly and hands-on. The only downside is that they close at 4 and have very limited seating.
