They have fans on full blast. I was very uncomfortable in there.
I had the grilled chicken quesadilla. It was very good and just right for lunch. My friend had a bean and cheese burrito. It was so huge and fat that it was a little hard to handle. Not exactly finger food, but taste was good. Atmosphere was nice.
The food here is a mix of partially authentic and mostly Americanized Mexican cuisine. To be honest, it's overpriced American versions of Mexican dishes that lack the vibrant flavors typically found in real Mexican food. I can’t even pinpoint a specific region or flavor profile from Mexico that matches what I've tasted here. I would rate it 2 stars, but I want to be kind to the hardworking staff. I'd prefer to see real lettuce on the tostada rather than iceberg. I noticed a lot of people were ordering fajitas, but even that raises questions about its authenticity as Mexican cuisine. Sadly, flavor and identity are crucial, and this place seems to struggle with both. The heartburn I experienced was a disappointing reminder that good Mexican food is packed with flavor and shouldn’t leave you feeling this way.
The Mexican food here is outstanding. I've dined at Elvira's in Claremont before, but I think I prefer this location even more. The ambiance is much cozier.
