Finch & Barley - Vancouver

One evening, I decided to have dinner at this restaurant without knowing what to expect. To my surprise, some friends also showed up for dinner without us planning it. Our group ordered the coconut curry, power bowl, grilled saffron chicken club, and Finch Barley burger. Our friends ordered the lamb dish. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was decent for a local pub in North Vancouver.

Our experience at this restaurant was filled with many negative aspects that are difficult to fully explain in this review. We were told to find our own table by the bartender, waited a long time for service, and received a glass of water that tasted strange. The $13 margarita we ordered was mostly ice with a small amount of alcohol and pineapple juice. Many customers appeared unhappy, and we noticed that the staff was understaffed for the size of the restaurant. The music was too loud, so we asked to move outside. Unfortunately, we felt like an inconvenience to the server. The tables we sat at were dirty, both inside and outside. Our food took an hour to arrive, with the halloumi sandwich being tasty but the fries were lacking. The prawns on the beet salad were overcooked and hard to chew. We were informed that the kitchen was backed up and there were only two servers, including one in training. Despite the challenges, we empathize with the staff. Overall, our experience was mostly unpleasant and we hope the management can better support their team. We spent nearly two hours at the restaurant for one drink and a meal.

My husband and I visited Finch Barley for the first time to celebrate his birthday. It is a charming little spot with delicious food, cocktails, and great service. The ambiance is welcoming and we absolutely love this place. We will definitely be returning in the future.

One of the best meals of my life. I?ll definitely be back. It?s a busy place and reservations are recommended. Tried some cocktails and food and all were delicious. Highly recommend
