Hadn’t been to La Quercia in probably 8-10 years or so, as kids happened and we moved far enough away that it was hard to get over too…. However it didn’t disappoint! Pasta’s are still the best pasta’s I’ve had… the perfect cook on the pasta noodles, just enough sauce to coat the noodles but doesn’t overpower, amazing halibut and side of broccoli, the crimini crudo…. Everything delicious. The wine list was great. Only thing I miss, the original dining room was so cozy, but unfortunately there was a private function for part of the room, and the deli takes up the other part. The “new” (new to us room is nice, great bar, but just missed a little ambiance. it definitely won’t be another 10 years before I am back (maybe next month! .
The food was way below average. The pasta was very grainy and the portions were way over valued. Price was absolutely not worth the food. Coming from seattle, average Italian places had amazing food compared to these overvalued dishes. Taste was nothing special if anything disappointing. However, the service was amazing. Server knew her stuff and was very kind. Would explain each dish, how they were made, and how the ingredients were grown. Small cozy place, food was very mediocre.
We had some trouble getting a reservation through the website for the date/time we wanted, but upon calling we were able to reserve a table for two for a little earlier in the evening. Portions were perfect we ate very well and left feeling satisfied, just like we do when we're in Italy! We'll be back the next time we're in Vancouver.Meal appetizers=marinated anchovies and parmigiano soufflé; mains=spinach ricotta cannelloni and gnocchi cacio e pepe; veg=insalata verde; dessert=chocolate salami and rice pudding, raspberries pistachio.
I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and it did not disappoint! The Rotolo was the best pasta I've had in Vancouver.
