Priced on the higher side, but hard not to want to support this family business. Can be very busy and very space constraints so be prepared. Coffee to go can also take much longer than anticipated.
Cozy, small patio. Friendly service, reasonably priced. Excellent pastries, bread rolls, etc. Stopped in for breakfast. Crisp bacon, Cordon Blu style scrambled eggs (very nice), shredded hash browns. Arrived quickly, not greasy, all hot on the plate. Coffee's fine too. Definitely will stop by when I'm in the area.
What a delightful café/bakery. We went for brunch on Sunday two weekends ago we had a lovely meal. The faro pudding was delicious, as was the Eggs Firenze. The poached eggs were soft, as I had requested sitting on a roasted portobello mushroom spinach with a romescue sauce. It was a delicious meal. We took a few baked goods home they were all delicious, particularly the orange water pistachio meringue. It was crunchy on the exterior slightly chewy on the interior. Heavenly. There was some confusion about paying the bill, which took the team a bit of time to figure out. But, generally, the service was fine.
Hungry runners pleasantly surprised!. After running the TC half marathon yesterday, my husband and I with our daughter and her husband, looked for somewhere to have brunch. After leaving several restaurants in the Royal Oak area because of the lineups and obvious chaos (every runner in town was hungry! my husband recalled reading an article about a new bakery/restaurant near Prospect Lake on West Saanich Road, that was owned by the founders of La Colina. We decided to give it a try. It was busy there too, with a line up inside the door that we thought would take forever to seat. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated fairly quickly with a friendly smile and welcome by the staff. The menu is really interesting and varied and we all thought everything sounded delicious. We ordered mimosas to celebrate the run, and our meals came in good time. No long waits, even though the place was super busy and the lineups were continuing. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The coffee was also very good. The staff were obviously surprised by the onslaught of customers but they worked hard to please and serve everyone in good time and they were organized and professional. I'm sure our server and the chef both felt that they too had run a half marathon by the end of the day! Well done we will be back and tell all our friends!
Buonissimo. We visited on a Sunday, so they are open from 9am despite the open hours listed here. Nicely refurbished, light and airy, super friendly staff and great food. Plus it's walking distance for us, which is a rare treat. Delicious pastries and decent coffee. Homemade hollandaise was excellent with the egg brunch dishes. We took home a couple of loaves for sandwiches. We will definitely be back to sample the gelato!.
