Fantastic! This restaurant takes you back in time with its elegant and high standard interior. It’s very romantic and the perfect place for a special occasion. The food is absolutely top notch with interesting and tasty combinations of flavors. Good size portions. The staff is friendly and very service minded. High knowledge about wines. The bartender made me the best mocktail I’ve ever had. This place take notice of the details and it makes all the difference.

A heavenly restaurant in a beautiful room overlooking the water. Must have a drink before dinner at their charming bar. Service was impeccable. Tasting menu with wine paring is wonderful.
A 100 km drive to go for dinner is not something you do every day. But this sunday, we gave it a shot, and drove to the eastern part of the Algarve, where Portugal meets Spain, only seperated by the Guadiana river. Vila Real de Santo Antonio, and Grand House Hotel. This is genuine hospitality; I know because I work in the same business. On the left, the marina. On our right, the beautiful Grand House, where we had dinner planned. As we live nearby, we did not stay over this time, but after seeing some rooms, we definitly will someday. The Grand Salon, in the late afternoon an oasis of tranquility, where Mr. Theodore gazes through the window, while soft jazzmusic plays and the perfect espresso was served. The sales and marketing director, her name escaped me, apologies gave us a tour throughout the hotel and beautifully decorated rooms, then we sat down for dinner. Barmanager Filipe mixed a signature drink for my wife, and prepared his version of a Negroni for me. I am a passionate Negroni drinker, and experienced a few variations in my life, but the one Filipe elegantly prepared me was definitly one, if not, the, best. Delicious home made bread (sourdough, focaccia and seaweed) with dried tuna and some other small mall bites, then locally inspired dishes with octopus, shrimp, bass, codfish. Great desserts. Beautiful, not too many options on the menu. The young lady serving the few tables this sunday evening very kind and exceptionally professional, but not stuffy, what you sometimes encounter in classy hotels. There´s definitely more to explore as the Grand House has a nice beachclub a few minutes away, and I read that there are plans to open a rooftop bar, and expand with a Grand Café as well. Another 100 km to get home, but as that little red guide from the french tyre company tells us; its worth the detour.
