Big Italy - Virginia Beach

My friend and I visited this place for Valentine's Day, and it wasn't as crowded as we expected, which was a nice surprise. I have to mention that Nod was honestly the best server I've ever had. If he's around, be sure to ask for him! He brought such a vibrant energy to our experience. Super laid-back and genuine!

The staff at this restaurant is wonderful and very attentive. Unfortunately, the food leaves much to be desired. The sauce on the pasta tasted like it was straight out of a grocery store jar, and the pasta seemed pre-prepared, as my meal arrived in what felt like just five minutes. To add to the chaos, they were playing two different radio stations simultaneously, which was quite irritating. I can’t even fathom how that happens!

When she returned, she accidentally spilled the beer all over my husband. She explained that she was supposed to be avoiding lifting heavy things because of needing elbow surgery, and that’s how the evening began. After that incident, we moved to a different table because the server mentioned they had no rags to clean up the mess, but she did bring us some paper napkins later. She apologized for the trouble, and we went ahead and ordered our food, which turned out to be mediocre at best. When we asked for bread, she quoted menu prices for garlic knots or cheesy bread, stating that there was no complimentary plain bread. Overall, we left feeling dissatisfied and thought the menu items were overpriced.

We are new to VA Beach, and were exploring the beach town area and had lunch at Big Italy. Big Italy is seemingly three restaurants in one. loud, open, very average food ... wouldn't go back

The waitress was very attentive and nice. Service was excellent. The decor was a hodge podge of stereotypical Italian tchotchkes . The food did not taste fresh. Not the best Italian food in the area by far. Even though the sign in the parking lot stated that parking was for patrons, we still got a warning on our vehicle.
