Shojin Cafe Foi Shintouri - Wakayama

This restaurant offers affordable, nutritious, and delicious meals. The majority of the menu is vegan, with only a few items containing dairy, such as the burger.

We called an hour before the restaurant opened to confirm they were still in business and inquire about options for non-onion vegetarians. They also asked if we wanted to make a reservation, which we did. If we hadn't made a reservation, we may have had to wait outside as they were quite busy, especially on a Saturday lunchtime. Thanks to their fantastic food (I highly recommend the fish sticks, our favorite) and great service, my husband and I had a fantastic weekend date at Wakayama. During our trip to Wakayama, my girlfriend and I decided to have lunch at this restaurant after visiting the castle. It was conveniently located midway between the JR station and the Castle, about a 10-minute walk from either, and a short walk from the nearest bus stop (Mikimachishintori). The front of the building was stylish and impressive, and the interior was equally well-decorated, primarily featuring gourds as decorations. The menu, all in Japanese with pictures to assist, indicated that all main dishes were vegan. We both opted for the Today's Lunch set, one with a mince cutlet and the other with a ham cutlet. A small cup of spiced brown sugar beverage was served before the meals, a nice touch. The food, consisting of salads, rice, cutlets, and soup, was artfully presented and delicious, with the ham cutlet being a standout. We also enjoyed drinks included in the set, though I found the caffeine-free coffee to be average. Overall, the experience was excellent - the location was convenient, the food was tasty, the prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was superb. If you're in Wakayama city for lunch, this is definitely a recommended spot to visit.

I was very surprised by so many creative and vegans!

We went around 15 minutes to reach this place by jr. the roasted bark stea circle was crispy and the curry hot pot was not spicy and good taste. we wanted to stay here longer. but I had a train to catch.
