Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónThe restaurant was decent, not amazing but not awful either. The chips were cold but tasty and the salsa was good. The brisket tacos lacked flavor. The service was good.
I had a very pleasant and delicious experience at this restaurant for the first time. It is a hidden gem in the neighborhood and perfect for Mexican food. I will definitely be coming back.
Service, food and ambience were great. The serving size of the dishes we had was more than sufficient. We both ordered the Machaca and none of us could end the whole court.
We do not live in the district, but visit quite often, so we research our options ahead of time. We were staying in an area that was quite new to us, and we loved it! But there were no “tried and true “ places to hold in reserve just in case. So Mayahuel was a very lucky find for us. Small, intimate place with great ambiance, we ate outdoors because it was a beautiful evening for late August in DC. It was very busy! But the staff was friendly and gracious throughout! Food was very good, margaritas using the house tequila great. Chips were from the usual colors of corn, but each color had a different spice, which of course went well with and enhanced the flavor of the salsa. We enjoyed the salmon la plancha entree and the fish tacos. Both were well prepared and not the usual Mexican fare. Yrs, we would return, but not when there is a conference with multiple thousands of attendees just up the hill.
We were disappointed. Drinks took a long time to come. Chips were stale. Tacos were okay—not bad but nothing special. The cost was high for what it is.
