Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónWanted to give this place a try again as the first time I went it was mediocre but thought it was just what I ordered. Today I ordered the West Coast Club. I almost laughed when the girl handed it to me. $8 for a...More
The bread comes deliciously toasted, leaving a nice crunch on the bite. They add just enough cheese to act as a flavourer, but not too much to overwhelm the taste of the tuna. Oh, that tuna! This is quite possibly the greatest tuna salad I've ever tasted. The big chunks mean that there's a fair chance that this fish doesn't come from a can. There's something in the tuna sauce that adds a real depth to the stuffing (Worcestershire or MSG perhaps?). They also add just enough red onion chunks to give a bit of a crunch and prebiotic flavouring. I'll be ordering these sandwiches two-at-a-time from now on.Unfortunately, the wrap doesn't meet the lofty standard set by the sandwich. My mouth waters at the appearance of the wrap. Upon first bite, the taste of the wrap suitably fulfills the expectations. The lovely charring comes through and the wrap is almost good enough to eat on its own. Unfortunately, the searing process also cooks the heck out of the spinach so the vegetables become soggy and limp. There's a tad too much cheese here, but that isn't the biggest problem. Even though there isn't a ton of chipotle sauce, it ends up dominating the entire wrap.Full of flavours of smoke, spice and heat, chipotle sauce is one of the most powerful sauces out there--way too powerful for this delicate tuna salad. Sorry but the sauce kills the taste of the tuna and the heat kills the texture of the spinach. That doesn't leave much.Meltwich also specialises in poutines.Poutine only has three basic ingredients so making good poutine is easy. Cook your fries well, melt your curds well, use flavourful gravy and voila, you have great poutine. Good fries should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, exactly like it is here. The curds should exist throughout the dish, not just on top--and they're two-for-two. Sadly, the gravy doesn't have a lot of flavour so the poutine falls a tad short. To their credit, there's tons of gravy, which is great. I hate it when people scrimp on the sauce and the fries taste dry at the bottom. There's some good food to be had here but not everything works. Meltwich quotes, "Chipotle sauce is a soul mate to any sandwich." Well, that's just not true. Next time, I'll try the chipotle sauce with the charred chicken or the pulled pork, but not with the tuna
Went there for lunch and had the Standard Philly Sandwich. It was served on a Brioche bun with grilled onions, mushrooms, provolone and american cheese. It was delicious! This is what I would call, "Comfort Food." I can hardly wait to try out other items on the menu.
