Is a bit hard to find as it looks like a residence and the sign is there, but still shows the old name (Eye Opener Diner). I drove past it and had to circle back and quickly google it to confirm it was the right place.Once inside it looks like a 70's-80's rural diner with a great small town atmosphere and amazing service.I had the mushroom swiss burger and told her to surprise my for the side. Server said you have to have the fries with gravy. This was quite likley the best burger I have ever had, definitely tastes homemade and the fries were cooked to perfection, crispy on outside and soft mashed potato flavour inside. Gravy was ok. The pop is even glass bottles. Highly recommend this place, but one issue is that they don't take credit cards, cash or debit only, so make sure you are able to pay with cash or debit as you will surely not regret it.
Went her yesterday with a client.... Possibly the best breakfast I have ever had in Winnipeg. The potatoes were outstanding , the egggs cooked perfectly and the bacon was the best i have eaten in a while.I cant speak on lunch and dinner but if the food is half as good as their breakfast, the meals will be fantastic!
The Red Eye is a great family restaurant open for breakfast and lunch only.A definite staple if you live north east.Home made deliciousness in a wonderful retro look diner. All food is home made right up to the jam and for your dining experience open kitchen depending on where you sit.Service and food both top notch prices so reasonable for the portion size.A must if you have not been and worth the drive.
It is a small diner with delicious homemade food. The interior is bright and cheerful. The staff was very friendly and made you feel at home. We had the North End Special served with kielbasa, 2 potato pancakes, eggs and toast. The surprise was the homemade jam that came along with it. Going to have to come back and try their lunch since breakfast was very good.
Friends took my wife and I here for breakfast on my birthday. My first impression was that we traveled back in time to the '50s, with the black-and-white floor tiles, the lunch counter and the red plastic booths. The place was hopping, and my understanding it always it on weekend mornings. I soon found out why. Food is delicious and there's lots of it. I ordered what I believe was called the Red Eye Combo - two eggs, toast, delicious real hash brown potatoes (not the frozen and deep-fried variety), a large piece of grilled Ukrainian ham sausage and two pancakes for the reasonable price of $11.50. My wife had a light breakfast with one egg, toast, one pancakes, hash browns and more. Our friends raved about the omelets they ordered. And they make their own jams which were delicious! Breakfast items are served all day. Coffee was so-so but the food more than made up for that. There was a line-up but it moved quick and service was very good. If you're going here, eat a light dinner the night before so you can appreciate this place to the fullest.
