Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónWhile the deck is a lovely location for dinner especially on sunset it falls short.Venue:The restaurant shares the building with the RSL. In a different layout this "could" work however as the two very different goals of a RSL and three course restaurant have to share such a small space the loud amateur band, meat raffle sales and having to go to the bar for drinks makes this little more than a side show for the cheap drinks RSLs are known for.Service:The table was not set, no one was at the door to show us to the table and even the basics like having pepper in the pepper shaker we had to ask for was too much for them to handle.Food:Reasonably priced and cooked correctly overall if only based on the food I would give it a 4/5 rating. I'm sure when catering they likely do a good job.Summary:Missed the mark... maybe they need to negotiate with the RSL to lay off the loud music until the food service has finished. You need to be able to talk during dinner.
Again lived to our expectations. Four courses this round for $45 per person. We were in a food coma..this could be a regular thing. Thank you Poppies
My wife and I decided to "drop in" on a whim Friday just gone.Best decision ever made!! Our entree was the quail and the scallops done three ways. Yum yum yum not needing to say anymore.I got the Angus sirloin for dinner and wifey purchased the signature "lavender lamb". Even though the Angus was cooked perfectly to my exact liking. The lavender lamb, holy tolidoes!!! That is on a different planet. I know what I am getting next round!! Poor wifey was getting cranky as I kept sneaking off her plate. We topped off with the chocolate brownie cheese cake my only issue with this was I WANTED MORE!!The meal was divine! $40 for a full three course meal you cannot argue with value for money. A complete bargain in this day and age.The portions sizes were excellent we surely did not walk away hungry. Not only were we waited on exceptionally well by the waitresses, Kate and Donna, who were friendly efficient and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. I still cannot believe the CHEF came out to greet us at the end of his shift. The CHEF we were completely amazed. Very talented young man, good luck keeping him as that young fella is definitely going places. Poppies Restaurant is based at the Yeppoon RSL which is such a great local venue worthy to support. We sat out on the deck the view of the night life was superb and the general surroundings was in general a perfect evening. We'll definitely be back. Valentine's Day to be specific.Overall✅ Menu✅ Service✅ Food✅ Value for money✅ Atmosphere
This was our first time to Poppies and it will be the last. Our order was lost apparently so we waited for over an hour and a half for our entrees. When they finally arrived they were disappointing. The dumplings with Asian broth had one dumpling and no broth and the corn fritters were pallid and horrible. But worse was to come. When the mains finally arrived they were worse than the entrees. My pork belly with lychee and fennel salad was not even as described. The pork fat was not rendered and a sole lychee cut in half and not one shred of fennel had me in despair. The menu said that all mains came with vegetables but where were they? The excuses from the staff didn't add up and we left hungry and disappointed. I could go on but suffice to say we will never go there again. The customer service was appalling and the chef should be ashamed of himself. To make matters worse we had taken a friend who was visiting from another state. How embarrassing!
We decided to dine at this restaurant primarily because it was conveniently located near our accommodation and we were tired from walking all afternoon. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We opted for the 3-course meal option priced at $45 per person. I enjoyed the lamb medallions, slow roasted rib on the bone, and cheesecake, while Mr. G had oysters, barramundi, and pineapple tartlet. Our only complaint was the delay in taking our dessert order, as well as the limited availability of the cheesecake. Despite having to remind the staff about our dessert, it was worth the wait and tasted delicious. If our dessert experience had been smoother, I would have given this restaurant a higher rating.
