This is the primary sushi spot in the Yucca Valley. They make good tempura, avocado rolls, spicy yellowtail rolls, and gyoza. Their sushi is okay, the noodles are a bit smaller than I usually like, and I feel they could add more veggies or meat. Overall they provide a consistent and decent Japanese dining experience in the high desert. Their staff is very friendly and helpful, and the dining room, while simple, is very cleanly and inviting.
Yucca Valley offers a very popular Sushi restaurant. It was busy for two straight nights, but the second night service was relatively fast. Both night we tried sushi rolls, and depending on what role you chose the taste varies significantly. Some are excellent, some are not so much. The reels are big enough. A good choice when you visit Joshua Tree National Park and stay close to Twentynine Palms.
I usually give a sushi place that I try for the first time through their rainbow roll, and they passed the test with flying colors! Their sushi roles are with skill, keep close together, and have these hard to describe mouth that has big sushi. The menu is extensive and relatively inexpensive. The firefighter roll had a great sweet/picy mix. Aki definitely exceeded my expectations for a local sushi spot while visiting Joshua Tree. Put it on your radar!
It was my first authentic Japanese cuisine experience, but I think they deserve excellent reviews. the food and service impressed me. Vegan options were available, which was the only reason I wanted to dive here.
