02.10.2024 - 04:39I ended up at The King's Arms as I was staying at its sister hotel, the Crown. The front desk at The Crown referred me here. The staff at the pub inside The King's Arms were excellent. Most of the customers only seemed to be drinking. There were a lot of locals. In fact, I think I was the only customer who ordered food. The food was average pub food. Nothing great but nothing bad. The only disappointment was the cheese plate. The restaurant was empty. It appeared to be the same food menu as the pub. For my second night in Amersham, I had dinner at Artichoke directly across the street from The Crown and NOT affiliated with either The Crown or The King's Arms. They were busy (about 60% full) on a Saturday night. By contrast, I only saw two people eating at the Indian restaurant inside The Crowne. There wasn't a single customer in the bar (pub). So, it seems like the hotel is doing something wrong when the F&B options at its two hotels are dead with little to no customers on a Friday and Saturday evening. There is also zero incentive to eat and drink at the hotel as a guest. Maybe a small incentive, like 10% off as a guest or a complimentary glass of wine with a meal purchase, would keep guests eating and drinking at the hotel. All things considered, The King's Arm was an average English pub.

29.09.2024 - 04:04After struggling to find a restaurant and bar that was open over the Fourth of July holiday I stumbled upon The Hawthorn. It was pretty much the only thing in downtown open. The selection of wines by the glass and bottle is superb. Some truly excellent wines. The prices were really fair too. Like $6 for a glass of very drinkable French chardonnay. The food is limited to snacks and then two more substantial offerings: a cheese board and a charcuterie board. The cheese board had three medium-sized blocks of cheese (sheep, cow and blue), a jam, honey, and fancy crackers. While the cheese was excellent, this is at best an appetizer or a post-dinner dessert. It's disappointing the place doesn't have a full food menu. Service was quasi-attentive. Two staff just stood behind the bar inside the whole time while one waitress covered the tables. The waitress was young and well-intended but didn't know anything about the wines. The two staff behind the bar seemed like they really didn't want to be working. By 8 pm on a weeknight, The Hawthorn and downtown Helena was a ghost town. I couldn't even get an Uber. All things considered, I would return. I just wish they had a full food menu.

09.09.2024 - 11:43Carnegie Cafe consists of a coffee shop with assorted pastries and coffee for breakfast and then a sit-down restaurant with a full menu and wine (plus cocktails) that opens for lunch at 11 a.m. The menu was a little too hipster that ran the spectrum from vegetarian to a steak. I ordered the vegetable koftas (meatballs) with cheese and roasted peppers. There were two meatballs and about 8 roasted peppers. The proportions wasn't balanced in my opinion. My Austrian gruner veltliner was perfectly nice. Wine selection is okay with reasonable by the glass prices. Service could have been better. I was never asked how my meal was, my water was never refilled, no bread was provided, and I was never offered coffee or dessert after lunch. Considering the museum setting, I expected a white tablecloth and a little more elevated menu.

15.08.2024 - 18:28Cole Creek Bar and Grill is the bar and restaurant off the front desk and lobby of the Holiday Inn East in Casper. At night, the bar and restaurant opens officially at 5 pm for drinks and food but the bartender was serving drinks before 5 pm. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. Prices were fair. However, the food or at least what I ordered was mediocre at best. The caesar salad was large but the parmesan cheese was barely there, the dressing wasn't tossed in the salad, and the chicken breast were cold like they had been sitting in the refrigerator. They weren't even microwaved. Honestly, you could have gotten a fresher salad with hot grilled chicken at the Wendy's about 5 minutes away. To be fair, other customers seemed to be enjoying their burgers. I assume the burger is good. The bartender was by herself and working hard as there were about 15 customers. She provided great service. Drinks were definitely better than the food. They have all the usual beers and spirits. For wine, the only drinkable whites were the Matua sauvignon blanc and the Chateau Ste. Michelle chardonnay. Both were available by the glass. $8.50 for a glass of Chateau Ste. Michelle is fair. The other wines on offer included Canyon Road, Andre, Barefoot, and Beringer. At breakfast, there's no buffet. Everything is ala carte off a menu that's pretty typical for anyone who has ever stayed at a Holiday Inn. My rate included a breakfast voucher that covered almost anything on the menu. The two eggs I ordered were perfectly cooked. Then again, it's pretty hard to screw up eggs unless they're powdered. My only complaint at breakfast is there was one waitress. I counted 12 customers between 6 am and 7 am. It took about 20 minutes to get a single cup of coffee. No carafe was left on the table. So you had to wait on the overworked waitress for a refill. I saw some customers go to the lobby for the free coffee because they were tired of waiting. All things considered, this is a good hotel bar that is more of a breakfast restaurant. There are much better restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The only reason to eat here is you're traveling for work, work is paying and you just want a burger.

29.05.2024 - 05:47Soby's was highly recommended. It didn't disappoint. The service was attentive and well-intended. The food was very good and the prices were more than fair and reasonable. The wine list is just crazy. One of the biggest wine lists I have ever seen. And some of the prices are crazy expensive too. While you really have to look to find some values, there are indeed values. Like the Hermann J. Wiemar dry riesling from New York at $80 per bottle. There are multiple vintages priced at $600+. I don't know who is buying those wines. If I'm buying a $600+ wine, it's going to be at a restaurant with white tablecloths and a dress code. That's probably my only complaint. No tablecloths and no dress code. I was really surprised to see t-shirts and shorts with sandals.

28.05.2024 - 15:11I'm glad I gave this restaurant a second chance after a not so great experience in November. This time around, it was much better. Including the service. Pretty much everything was done correctly with no rush to turnover the table. Staff were young with some older staff around, training them. Food was good, however, the salmon was small (maybe 5 oz. and tasted a little soggy like it had been frozen. The wine list was extensive and a little confusing because some good wines were listed as by the glass even though they were better than some of the wines listed as by the bottle. The wine list could be a little more curated. I ordered a bottle of 2016 French white Burgundy (chardonnay . However, the wine was actually a 2017. Not a big deal as 2017 was a better year for Burgundy but it doesn't always work out that way. They also need glasses with a bigger bowl. I know those can be clumsy and take up space on a small table, but they can make a difference with certain wines. I would return.

28.05.2024 - 15:11After some inconsistent dining experiences in the past, Cafe Zinc didn't disappoint. I ate here for a business dinner. Amy, the waitress, was excellent. Attentive and professional. One of the better waitresses or waiters I've had at a restaurant outside fine dining in major cities. The menu is pretty extensive with something for everyone. I actually prefer it to the menu of the other restaurant at the hotel. I honestly don't know how a hotel that feels half-empty can have two restaurants and one bar open every night. But I digress. The wine list was pretty extensive and affordably priced. I liked the dry riesling from Michigan, although the chardonnay from France was a better pick. My salmon was perfectly cooked and presented. I appreciated the white tablecloths. All things considered, I would return. My only recommendation would be to drop the lighting or play some better atmospheric music.

25.05.2024 - 12:16I ate here after my flight was delayed. It’s basically the only restaurant in the terminal with more than burgers or carry-out/fast food. While the menu was the typical TGIF menu, they were serving good with a plastic knife and plastic fork. The napkin was paper. Cocktail napkins! My drink was served in a plastic cup. The food was okay — mediocre chain food. Very disappointing. Sadly, there is really no where else to eat.

25.05.2024 - 04:39It's a Capital Grille. Enough said. It was excellent and in keeping with my experience at other Capital Grille locations. The only issue is the electronic wine list, which I find annoying and a little cheap-feeling. Shrimp cocktail and were all perfectly prepared and presented. My only complaint? The waitress was way too generous on her pours from the bottle of wine. It felt like she was trying to empty the bottle so we could buy a second bottle. All things considered, I would return if in downtown Milwaukee.

18.01.2024 - 20:58I was a walk up customer for dinner as I didn't make a reservation. Staff offered to seat me outdoors, which was fine as I enjoy people watching. I ordered a bread course, the cod cheeks starter, and salmon fillet for the main course. To drink, I had the the Simpsons Canterbury brut rose sparkling wine. It was a very good English sparkling wine for 12.50 pounds/$15 a glass. The bread course was huge and worth the charge. The cod cheeks were substantial and could have been a main course. There was, however, too much sauce. As a result, it was more like a plate of sauce with cod cheeks added for flavor. The salmon fillet was excellent. Perfectly cooked. Service was attentive and more than justified the included 12.5% service charge. If I had a complaint, it was the cod cheeks starter (just too much sauce the kitchen should have caught it) and the paper napkin. I expect a linen napkin when I'm spending upwards of 70 pounds/$85 for dinner.
