The cheese starter was interesting in that the cheese came in a huge chunk. Sliced with a few biscuits would have been better. The salad was lovely. Decent selection of drinks. Nice outside space to watch the world walk the last bit to the castle.

The inside does not match the look outside. Olde world pub out, 1980’s conference space in. Would benefit from a creation of snugs and more traditional pub. Food was fine. No ploughman’s though? Jacket spuds large and well cooked and fillings tasty. Selection of Panini’s. Decent bar. Local ale and nice gin selection. Not a place you would sit snugly inside over a pint as it is a bit too stark. Staff were lovely. Service no issues and we were checked in on. Just needs the revamp in the bar to bring life back to what could be a lovely traditional quirky pub.

Four small pieces of chicken were contained within and the calzone was quite thick meaning the whole thing was mostly dough. Pan-Seared Salmon Salad was very nice. Perfectly seasoned. Good atmosphere in the restaurant. Full menu so plenty to choose from. They add the 10% service to the bill. You can request it off but I would prefer it not to be there in the first place and I decide on the tip. Good selection of drinks. Reasonable price. Mid range but certainly not cheap.
