17.07.2024 - 07:29A warm welcome and a simple ‘on the house’ addition to a table covered with dishes made this a pleasant evening. Vegan dishes are clearly marked. The wine wasn’t vegan, but was poured generously.

11.07.2024 - 07:18A very varied vegan menu, plus vegan items on the main menu. All day breakfast vegetarian included cauliflower, carrot and asparagus as well as the usual tomatoes and mushrooms. The vegan brekkie had vegan ‘bacon’ and sausage, and fewer veg.

22.06.2024 - 04:50Looks like a typical Portuguese coffee and pastries cafe, but behind the counter was a tasty dish of seitan and vegetables, which was served with fried rice and a bit of side salad (tomatoes, lettuce and grated carrot). A cheap and satisfying feed for weary travellers! The place obviously does lots of yoga, astrology, massage and the like and probably there's music at weekends. It's website didn't really explain what to expect, but it does list the varied events that take place there. [hidden link]

23.05.2024 - 13:55This centrally located eating place is below-ground (I didn't see any accessible entry). The decor is generally dreary and the furniture a bit random. We ate from an extensive menu but were not impressed with the range of vegetables in the chow mein which turned out to be mostly a lot of noodles and a bit of cabbage. The food in the buffet on an early Saturday evening had more variety but the puris were rather dry and the poppadums rubbery. Did we just pick a bad time to visit?

16.05.2024 - 07:21The vegan lunch option was a tasty bowl, with a base of beetroot hummus, topped with charred corn, wild rice, avocado salsa, grilled pumpkin, with vegan power balls and vegan aioli. A delicious dish that took everyone a long time to eat! The only vegetarian option was a pizza or a mushroom and halloumi burger; boring! Lots of outside tables. Indoor tables each had growing herbs in a pot, smelling lovely but also ready for the chef to use.

14.05.2024 - 02:13What an imaginative menu and even with all those options, they offered to tweak the menu to suit us. Plenty of parking and outside seating.

27.04.2024 - 09:48Lots of vegan and vegetarian choices, introduced and explained by the knowledgeable staff. The choices for the bento plate takeaway box included delicious gyoza and a choice of salads.

15.03.2024 - 07:34Plenty of choice and friendly staff. There's a new outside area the other side of the shop, with outdoor heaters and though it was still a bit sparse when we ate there, they are greening it with lots of plants.

06.02.2024 - 14:20This is a place for coffee and a healthy lunch and drinks and sweet treats that are a bit too healthy for my taste. And at weekends, you can expect to find acoustic music or poetry performed on the stage, while the audience relaxes on sofas in the large warehouse. There are a few tables outside. Don't expect it open on Thursdays, when the veg boxes are being made up. A great addition to the Castlemaine cafe scene. Updated from previous review on Wednesday September 23, 2015
