I already had high expectations entering the restaurant, but in the end it was an even better experience than I could have anticipated! Wonderful, courteous and friendly service. All the dishes were absolutely delicious and impeccably made. I’ll definitely be returning. Champagne button is a lot of fun, but also a little dangerous! Enjoy!

The Northall, set inside The Corinthia hotel in Westminster has been on my 'restaurants to visit ' list for a while now. So when I decided to treat my significant other to dinner for getting a new job, I wanted somewhere special. The images I had previously seen had always attracted me to this place and with good reports from friends; I knew I wasn 't going to be disappointed. As you step through the grand entrance in to the bar you’re transported to a world of elegance. The room has high ceilings and feels very spacious, with mirrored walls and the bar positioned in the centre, this is a beautiful room. As we arrived early we decided to sit down and enjoy a cocktail here. Once our table was ready we were then lead from one amazing room to another. We were greeted by white table clothed tables with fashionable orange leather seats and huge windows letting in plenty of light. As we sat down we were handed the menu consisting of modern British cuisine which all sounded very exciting! Truffled goats cheese mousse, gingerbread, beetroot and radish with a raspberry and hazelnut dressing was a vibrant, good looking plate of food. A combination of saltiness, sweetness and sharpness with sticky gingerbread was a pleasing mouthful. The truffle was slightly overpowering for my liking, but still enjoyable. The shellfish bisque with crab and crayfish ravioli had an incredible aroma to it and tasted absolutely wonderful. For mains I had sea bass with confit octopus, razor clams, saffron potato risotto and a garlic veloute. This was a stunning dish and I savoured every mouthful as I didn’t want it to end. With elements of the ocean pleasing the taste buds, a well-cooked piece of fish, crispy octopus and another texture from the risotto, this was my favourite of the evening. The Lamb saddle with sweetbreads was another well executed plate of food. The lamb was pink and cooked to perfection with the minted jus and shallot puree intensifying the flavour. Rosemary and white chocolate parfait with a fig carpaccio and lemon jam made for a refreshing dessert. The sourness of the lemon was balanced perfectly with the sweetness of the chocolate, fig and honeycomb. The vanilla and salted caramel cheesecake was to die for! A silky cream cheese sitting on top of a deep chocolate brownie and accompanied with a walnut ice cream was gorgeous. The waiting team were brilliant and they definitely made us feel special. The sommelier was very knowledgeable of the vast wine list and selected some great tasting and very drinkable bottles. The whole experience was spectacular and if you enjoy dining out then this is a place that must be visited. Once we had finished in the Northall we then had a night cap in the Bassoon bar, which has a very intimate atmosphere and was a great way to end the evening.

There is a saying in football ‘Form is temporary, class is permanent’. I think this saying can also be applied to Le Gavroche. While there are plenty of other trendier, hipper, more fashionable restaurants that pop up every day in London, Le Gavroche has stood the test of time. In fact, the restaurant will be celebrating its 50th birthday next year. While other restaurants embrace modern techniques and try to reinvent the wheel, the philosophy at Le Gavroche is to stick true to their classic roots. I think in this day and age of sous vide cooking (which is a lot easier and leads to less wastage), many chefs have forgotten how good food can be when it is cooked the old-fashioned way – you know, like on the frying pan or in the oven.

Great bar with good award-winning drinks, and if it is live music it is always great! (especially the jazz jams on Friday during the running time
