03.05.2024 - 16:53One of my very favorite places in Hochatown. I almost always order their Spicy Bird (spicy fried chicken) and get the half order. I love really good fried chicken and their's is so amazing. It is a very guilty pleasure for me. I enjoy the fried okra, hushpuppies, fried catfish, the crinkle cut fries and the pinto beans. The half and half fried pickles and jalapenos is one of the best items on the menu! You simply MUST order the boiled crawfish when it is in season and available on the menu. The staff is always so friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic with all of the outdoor seating. The Blue Rooster allows dogs on the patios. A real treat to have is their fried pies! MMMMMM....DELISH!

06.11.2023 - 16:36We enjoyed our dining experience with the very friendly staff from Vaqueros Texas BBQ food truck that was parked outside of the beer garden at Hop and Sting Brewery. Unfortunately, I would probably avoid the brisket next time because of too much moistness and not enough flavor. However, Vaqueros has a strong game with their specialty items such as al pastor pork belly burnt ends served on corn tortillas with a small amount of chopped red onion and cilantro (SUPERB COMBINATION, dipped in the delicous bbq sauce). The Texas Pastrami taco was not available the day we visited; but I would go back for those, the El Patron Burrito; and birria tacos. The sides were another big star on the menu. We had the trail beans and the cowboy potatoes. Absolutely phenomonal. It makes me want to revisit just to try more of the sides. Overall the experience was a great one and I would definitely return!

29.10.2023 - 18:42This place hands down has the coolest atmosphere! When you walk onto the restaurant 's beautiful grounds you are greeted by the sweetest sculpture garden and the lovely hanging red chile pepper ristras that serve as a symbol of welcome. When you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted by the hostess dressed in traditional colorful skirt and billowing white blouse. There are so many rooms with so many different vibes that you could visit half a dozen times and probably get an entirely new perspective. There are rooms with lots of windows and there are rooms that a bit more cavernous. We were seated in one of the open rooms with tons of windows and were immediately brought fresh chips and salsa. The chips were not overly salted and were delicious accompanied by the fresh salsa. I bought some of the salsa in the gift shop to take home, along with many other goodies. I ordered the prickly pear margarita and it was nice and refreshing; but it could have been a bit stronger and more tart than sweet. I would probably just go for the house margarita or perhaps the spicy margarita next time (and there WILL be a next time). My husband ordered the burrito de carne with chicken and whole beans instead of refried beans. I ordered the carne adovada burrito with refried beans. Both of the plates were served with delicous spanish rice and a little side salad (very small) that added a pop of color to the plates. The dishes were gorgeous and the food was really clean and flavorful and you could tell that the food was made from scratch. The beautiful shredded pork roast with adovada sauce tasted like something you would have in a traditional Mexican home. So very good. I really enjoyed the refried beans and thought my husband 's whole beans were very good too. The other reviews indicate that there is no air conditioning in the restaurant and that is true. However, we visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon in late September and were very comfortable. One should plan accordingly based on their sensibilities. I bought jars of green chile sauce and salsa, as well as ground red chili powder and ground green chili powder. I have used the red chili in a pot of white beans and they had a bit of a kick (I bought the mild) so be warned. I have had bowls of traditional red chili stew and it can be super hot so the mild may be ideal for most folks. I look forward to visiting again next fall!
