The loca... leer más The Schonnebecker Hof is showing its age. It's a simple restaurant from the 60s. The owners have changed, and by now I think it couldn't be much worse. The local advantage hasn't translated into a new concept. Lots of convenience food, lots of pre-packaged or frozen dishes, little fresh produce, and little culinary skill. There aren't any restaurants in Schonnebeck, so why not take that as an opportunity to create something new and good? The premises, with its beer garden and bowling alley, really have potential, and the clientele is good and reliable. It truly pains me to experience this time and again. We practically live next door. For the first 30 years, we were regulars, but not anymore. It's a shame. A restaurant in the mid-price range would actually have a good chance. Never again!!! Due to illness, two of us couldn't join the pre-ordered goose dinner for a group of 12. In the end, the rest of the group had to pay for our meal at €50 per person. The service staff was unfriendly and uncooperative. Having to pay for pre-ordered meals is certainly questionable, but understandable from the owner's perspective. Our meal was then packed up, paid for in full €100! , and packed for us to eat at home. What we unpacked, however, was an outrage. The meat was okay, but the side dishes were a joke. We were given one tablespoon of red cabbage, two tablespoons of Brussels sprouts, and seven boiled potatoes—no dumplings, no croquettes, no gravy... The field salad as a starter was okay—but there was no baguette with lard like we had in the restaurant. The price-performance ratio was nowhere near acceptable!

My Spaghetti Gambas was delicious, but unfortunately, the portion was so small that I left hungry. My comments to the staff about this were noted, but they weren 't followed up, which I personally found very disappointing.

I've rarely eaten so much meat The chicken soup with dumplings was also fantastic. Plus, a great location with amazing service. While having a cigarette, I asked a fellow smoker why it was so crowded. He replied dryly that it's always crowded. -Now I know why- This overall experience makes this place my absolute number one when I'm in Dortmund. Absolutely recommended!!!!! Best regards, Jo
