We had dinner on an overnight stay in the hotel. The restaurant was very busy as a busload had arrived. We had starters, main and dessert. The food seemed a bit preprpared,served right from the fridge. For main we had beef, ordered medium/rare- but it was overcooked. The bernaise sauce had to much acid, but the roquefortsauce was nice. The best part of the meal was the cheeses for dessert, they were delicious. The highlight of the visit was however the charming staff who no doubt could have needed more hands. People were waiting in the restaurant, the bar and the reception, and they were not enough staff to serve everybody. I especially admire the patiens with the old impatient Englishman how kept ordering double whiskeys.

The 17th building Century struck a 'feel good factor', which continued when we arrived in the restaurant above a magnificent room with a large open fire, where guests could see that the meat cooked on a skewer. When one of our friends noticed that Henry VIII hadn't been here, in a medieval banquet (even if he had gone by 200 years to the building! We received a warm welcome and the service was attentive throughout the evening. The atmosphere could not have been cosier. There were different menus on offer 17,50€, 23,50€ and 30€. Between us we enjoyed chicken liver salad, snails and seafood puff pastries as the appetizers, and followed this with spit roasted lamb and beef casserole all mouth irrigation. There was so much food that I couldn't even manage my main meal! I think we had ice cream for dessert, but the wine flows and I can't remember! The wine came at cost price that we had Merlot and Rose, and we dared out of the restaurant, full of stomach, impaired sense, but with a lasting impression of a perfect evening behind us.
