The one who brought them out brought us plates, napkins and forks and said he also brought knives, but never brought them. A person ordered chicken pedini on recommendation and other 2 persons ordered grilled tuna. I have rarely ordered my tuna medium, which is a personal preference. When it came out, it was a hockey puck. I asked the waiter and he said that the kitchen would only cook well. Okay, but I would have got the possibility that it cooked like that or order something else... BUT instead they just cooked it. I didn't eat it, and the waiter didn't even ask if something was right. The steamed broccoli and white sauce pasta was good. Needless to say I won't go back

Our stay in St. Louis began with lunch at Sugarfire Smoke House and it set the tone for our vacation. Just a little background on our tastes: We never eat BBQ o... leer más Our stay in St. Louis began with lunch at Sugarfire Smoke House and it set the tone for our vacation. Just a little background on our tastes: We never eat BBQ out because I make it better at home. I have worked and mastered the art of ribs and brisket over the years. All this is because we have never found a BBQ joint that doesn't over smoke their meats. That is until now. Sugarfire is a find in a sea of over smoked chemically infused smoke houses all over the country. Among the villains are Dick's, Hog Wild, Pig in Pig out, Two Brothers, and etc. One can almost taste the carcinogens in all these places, but this is not so of Sugarfire. We had a brisket sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich, and a burger with bacon (the bacon was spectacular) and a nice selection of their sides, many of which are daily specials. We tried the cole slaw (because what is BBQ without slaw), the fries, potato salad, greens and beans and the wonderful greens with sweet potato and beet relish that was a complete revelation. We love soul food and nowhere is it done better than here. The meats were only matched by the incredible selection of homemade sauces that you can put on your foods at the table. There was such a selection of BBQ sauces that we could not get through them all, but I must say, we did not find one we did not like. The people were just as great as the food. The staff was kind, generous and very courteous. The prices were great and unlike Dick's which gives you half portions of sides, Sugarfire gave us all healthy portions of all their sides and at a great price. This is one of our favorites now and we will look forward to coming back to St. Louis and eating here again and again. Thank you for a truly special experience and a feast for our tummies. Be prepared to wait on line here because I think everyone in St. Louis eats here and rightly so. It is worth the wait.

The food was so good that we went back two days later before we left the city. Very recommended! Oh, and her lavender lemon gooey buttercake is for dying!
