Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónWe tried their grilled cheese sandwich and mushroom burger, good food, very busy. Kind staff members. We were here on a Friday evening, the cafe and the Annapolis Brewing Company work together, Friday nights is karaoke night in the bar next door, so you could place a food order here and these gals will bring food over next door in the bar. New kind of experience, grab a bite from here and enjoy a song or two next door
We were very close to close when we found this place and the owner was very accommodating. Great burgers, low key music in the background, and his friendly chat made us feel at home. He uses artisanal buns, had a limited but good beer list, and great fries. Give him a chance when in that lovely, historic town.
We decided to give this place a shot based on the recommendation from the brewery next door to it. The girl at the brewery was very nice and knowledgeable when it comes to beers, but apparently not so much when it comes to food. Fort Anne is a very basic place to eat. That may be exactly what some people are looking for, but my fiancee and I prefer much more interesting/unqiue dishes. We both got sandwiches -she got the steak sandwich and I got the chicken club. What I didn 't understand is that she got fries with hers but I merely got potato chips. I asked if I could sub for fries but I was told straight up, no. Huh? Why wouldn 't someone be able to substitute their side? I wanted fries because, after sampling a few from my fiancee 's plate, the fries were actually quite tasty. Plus, anyone can go buy a bag of chips for 2 bucks anywhere, anytime. It 's not as if they were homemade chips either. The sandwiches are on the larger side and bother were adequate. Not particularly notable in any sort of way, but not terrible either. Like I said, this place is fairly basic. There are likely much more interesting restaurants and menus in the area, but if you aren 't so much the 'cultured ' type and prefer things basic and simple, this place is for you.
Fort Anne Cafe was a good, not great restaurant in Annapolis Royal. Across the street from one of the majour historic sites in the city, and making the claim of being the oldest restaurant in the city, it's a surprise to me that there aren't more reviews and check-ins here! Everything, from the service to the atmosphere to the food, was about at an average level. The clams I had were few, but tasty. The fries were plentiful and hot. My wife's chicken fingers were good too. The service was friendly and relatively fast...though there weren't barely any other patrons when we visited for lunch. I'd recommend this place as a satisfying, standard East Coast eatery.
Great Food, Friendly Service, However I found the Bacon was a bit greasy. Other than that packed with locals (can see why they've been in business since 1976). Great to go to if you're visiting town.
