This restaurant on Queen Street is just another soulless hole in the wall. Although the staff is friendly, there is no atmosphere to make it a memorable dining experience.
There are only two things you need to know about QF Tavern. The first is that it stands out as a unique bar when compared to others in New Zealand.
It should tell you a lot that all the past reviews for the QF Tavern have been from males. This is not the sort of establishment where you can or should bring a classy lady. I'm from Christchurch originally, so I don't think they even do breed classy ladies down there so I feel quite happy adding my two cents in about the olde QF. While nothing inherently special this bar always seems to be a decent night ender, it usually has live music, different events every night of the week (avoid the Wednesday night Karaoke if your not a fan of caterwauling, and most importantly cheapish drinks for Auckland anyway. During the day it's a slightly more respectable establishment so if you need to take a break from some strenuous shopping down Queen Street, grab a drink and a table outside and do some people watching (happy hour is 12pm-2pm in the afternoon)
Last of the true blokes bars in Auckland during the day , but at night it is taken over by the young hip Auckland scene . Check it out , no frills drinking , be relaxed , be your self . Don't forget your ID young travelers drinking age is 18 plus and passport ID is what you need or an 18plus card . I am a bit of an oldie been drinking there since the 1960s
