It was a windy night so there were not too many people in the restaurant. We were greeted immediately and sat in table. The vibe is black chic with white table clothes and beautiful glassware. After drink orders were taken we were given the best thing we ate that night delicious cornbread drizzled with a honey butter. They were soft, smooth, and o so good! We ordered a lot of different food items. While I didn't realize the salmon nuggets were fried they were the stand out. The breading was simple yet bold flavor and they were fried perfectly. The crab cake was tasty and filling, everything you want a crab cake to be. The shrimp and friend fish was cooked well but the flavor was just ok, I wish it had more of the robust flavor of the salmon. For sides we tried several. The green beans were flavorful but a little to al dente for my taste, while I don't like my greens over cooked these had a little too much bite. The collard greens had a nice vinegar flavor that really complimented the friedfish. Overall, it was a good meal, large portions, appropriate prices, and lovely flavor. This is a place you should stop by if in the area. My only issue is the menu is too large, I feel like they could cut a few items or bring them in seasonally to provide the best experience and quality.
WTF more rules than Catholic School. The menu and attitude is what we won't do for you. 20% mandatory gratuity on lousy service. I actually got at packaged salad dressing like at Wendy's with a pricy and totally not worth it salad. I should have left then. Save yourself the trouble and expense there are plenty of good and accommodating restaurants in the area. My entree looked and tasted like leftovers.
Extra star for being a small, black owned business that beat the odds (generally in pandemic times). We had a very good time for my sister's birthday. The site says sat sun by reservation only but it wasn't full the Saturday we went. We had a table of 8 I think. Sundays I hear are busy, but if you're ever craving soul food on a Saturday I bet you could just walk in. The catfish bites are really good. Like really good. Actually all the fried food was good. Idk if they are using some sort of air fryer but the food is not greasy. And none of the food was oversalted which can happen a lot at the soul food spots. Everyone really liked there food, the service was relaxed, no one rushed us at all, the owner came out to have a gab fest with us. All around good vibes. Also my family went a separate time for another birthday and they had a similar experience. Definitely support this black owned business.
BE AWARE DO NOT EAT HERE! My Aunt had a party at this location spent over 4K with buffet style food service with unlimited food. Owner refused to refill buffet more than 50% of guest didn't eat also stole our liquor that was purchased for the party. NEVER GO HERE!!! WORST SERVICE!!!
The catfish was grossly overpriced at $27.99 for one piece of fish. My occupation afforded me the patronage ability. However I am very disturbed by this outlandish price. And when I questioned the overpriced single item, I was totally ignored. This doesn't make good business practice for longevity.
