a very friendly old English no frills pub. superbly freshly cooked food, although a little limited menu. real ale sold here. Saturday evenings are very quiet
that was my place when I lived in the station road in woolhampton, although the coach and the horses were only a two-minute walk from my house next to the train station. this was decades ago in the 80s when I was posted on raf greenham common. it was a family run freehouse then, and it will be interesting to see what has forged the last 35 years on the pub. I plan a vacation in this coming summer to visit family and introduce some of my grandchildren the home of my wife and my younger years. planning for a late summer/early autumn visit. I hope not too early as I hope I enjoy some scrumpy. ahhhhhh the living memories of the headaches of the next morning! Even when I bought a new home in thatcham, I visited the horseshoes the seven years I called berkshire my home. I have very nice memories and hope to renew them soon. I will update my review to my next visit.
Fantastic little characterful traditional pub. Friendly host, amazing food. A real gem. Recommended to anyone wanting a quiet meal. :
