Blackbird Public Urban Bar - Calgary

We ordered drinks and food, and I tried the fish tacos for $17.50. I had fish tacos at another place in Calgary last week during happy hour for $10, and they were much better. Wednesdays offer half-priced drinks, which is a great deal for wine drinkers. The prices for wine by the glass or bottle are clearly displayed. For example, the house red wine is $6.50 for a 5-ounce glass or $28.75 for a bottle. I would visit more often if they addressed the noise issue. The service is good, though.

The chicken burger was not delivered but instead got a chicken dinner. It was really dry the mashed potatoes were cold and the house salad was not fresh. I ordered the beef dip the au jus was forgotten I made my own. Was very...dry the caesar salad was not fresh. There was a coleslaw in the container not ordered but it looked like it was a few days old.

Went to the Blackbird Bar for the first time and had a fantastic waitress. I think her name was Shandel but I must say she made our night.I ordered the chicken sandwich and my wife had a salad, both meals were great and she really paid attention to her tables. She asked if I wanted another beverage, which I declined, and a few minutes later came by with a glass of water, what a touch without having to be asked.We will be back.

We drove back into Calgary late Sunday afternoon after a weekend away ( a bad time to go home and cook !) - one of our group had been to Blackbird once before and suggested it as a good spot. It was a very hot afternoon - so we were all pleased with the cool and refreshing walk into a quite attractive pub - really nicely laid out with seating selection from booths, to long benches to tables and chairs - and clean (ladies even commented how nice the restrooms were).Excellent attentive service, great selection of beers. Everyone tried something different - from Tuna Pokestack (kinda like a cold sushi salad - very good ), to tacos to fish and chips - there is no shortage of variety on the menu. All were more than pleased. There is a nice looking patio - we opted for the cool of indoors. We will certainly return.
