We enjoyed the recent takeaway menu developed between Amaru and its wine-bar sibling Auterra. A clever menu, singing with inventive combinations of perfect ingredients to take me on an taste adventure. Beautifully prepared and presented. Particularly loved the tiny duck tart, King Prawn sandwich, Comte...eclair (a real gem) and the famous shiitake mushroom sundae. This menu is playful and fun, with bite sized offerings that provide a complete gourmet journey at great value.
This was an exciting meal; i loved all the dishes, the inventive use of ordinary ingredients to make the experience extraordinary; carrot/apple leaves- potato desert anyone? The crab dish as well as the kangaroo were exceptional
This is a true dining experience. Reasonably small restaurant (30-35 sits) with a wonderful modern ambience and absolutely amazing service! An eight-course degustation menu is innovative and absolutely great and is well complemented by an extensive wine list. We will be back!
Saturday afternoon lunch for three. Short walk from Armadale Railway Station. Booked several weeks in advance but we were one of only two groups dining at the time, so the atmosphere was cozy and intimate, particularly since it was a very cold winter's day outside. Attentive and personable service from the moment we stepped inside the restaurant. Clear explanation of the menu. Our sensory menu included: Garfish with pickled onion, dried duck on a dried carrot, South Melbourne-inspired dim sum, crab with apple ice and crab ice cream, mussels with Kyoto green onion oil, mushrooms and leaves with nasturtium oil, Kangaroo with quince and onion, chocolate and ice-cream in potato, crispy Jerusalem artichoke, Wagyu beef caramel and digestive with dark chocolate. Each course was a true taste sensation and a work of art and meticulously arranged with tweezers - as we could see the chefs working on each course. One of the very best dining experiences I've encountered in Melbourne for a long time. Highly recommended.
