The Old Friend - Harrogate

I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant. The vegetable chow mein I ordered was delicious. However, the salted squid I also ordered was awful - it was dry and tough. I suspect it was not freshly cooked that evening, but rather reheated from the previous week, as it was ready so quickly. I would recommend avoiding this place altogether.

We ordered through just eat so cannot comment on the premises but the food was delicious. 10/10 for the very tasty meals sides. Only thing that let it down was it took 1hr 30mins to arrive despite Just Eat saying 1hour. We did call to ask where our order was and the person on the phone was very kind and helpful in telling us it was given to the driver and would be arriving very soon but it was busy as it is Chinese New Year. Would definitely recommend the food and would order over the phone and collect in person for a better experience. Added in some vegetable spring rolls and a bottle of Diet Coke for free! Thank you!

We live just up the road, yet our food arrived cold. When I called to give feedback I was confronted by an argument and the staff implying I was lying. Such a shame, we will not order from them in the future.

I have had decent takeaways from here in the past. Was passing by today and decided to go again. PLEASE everyone, be warned. Arriving home, the order was found to be not as placed.....one dish missing, two items different to what had been ordered. Quality ....almost inedible so it all went in bin. No excuse as no-one entered the shop or phoned in an order after we entered, so no question of a 'mix-up. ' I should have made a better judgement call after noticing the filthy state of the floor and counter as I sat and waited. They shoud be ashamed. And close down. There are lots of genuine businesses struggling out there and trying their best to survive difficult times so I hate to criticise, but this was really really really awful.

Terrible food horrible looking fatty and tough meat in special fried rice with no prawns whatsoever, bland curry sauce all a bit disgusting so went in the bin. Knaresborough is in desperate need of good takeaways especially Chinese I’m sure they’d make a fortune !
