Foundation - Hillcrest New Zealand

Foundation has been one of our locals for a long time but we haven’t been there much since the pandemic. It’s nice to see some of the staff we know still there. The atmosphere was good, decor looks great and food was delicious. I do miss the personalized service we used to get that the tablets have now taken over. This place has a separate function space that we have been to events in and plenty of seating although it pays to book as they get busy. We ordered pizza, fish and chips, the pork dish and the beef cheek, everyone thought their meals were great. Highly recommended. Non existent service as you order through a device and even then they still stuffed up our bill and we had to ask them to remove several items that we did not order. We were overcharged by $57 dollars and the waiter seemed to know who that order belonged to but was happy to put it on our bill.. Foods ok but expensive, the $1 wings Sunday special was good. First thing I noticed when walking in was the music was very loud. Then about halfway through the night it got turned up significantly, to the point of being painful. This completely killed the conversation as you had to shout at the person sitting next to you and struggled to understand there response. Venue also had large screens on almost every wall leading to an over whelming amount of distraction. Food was middle of the road for quality. Quantities of food were a bit disappointing for the price. Drink serving sizes were good. Wait times for food were pretty bad, but we were there at a peak time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The table ordering system and staff call button was great. But these did not out way the cons for me. While understand this might be appealing to sports fans, I would be unlikely to revisit.
