The Andrade's have been in Honokaa since 1924, and the pride and family recipes have made their way to today. We ordered the chicken pesto sandwich which was served on a sweet guava bread was SO DELICIOUS. (Especially after conquering the waipio valley hike) We also ordered the Island Beef Stew which was homemade stew awayfrom home. We couldn't have asked for better food or better hospitality anywhere else. Mahalo.
Simple and satisfying. Most meals could be made gluten free. Warm meals consist of two balls of rice, salad with a vinaigrette, and a serving of meat with a roll. Sandwiches are served on huge slices of Hawaiian bread. The owners are very friendly. Restaurant is small so we had to wait outside for 20 minutes.
My husband and I decided to stop in Honokaa in the middle of a sightseeing drive. We saw the cafe was open for another hour and decided to give it a try. I?m so glad we did! Marlene and Archie are gems. The food was delicious. I ordered the beef stew and it was a plate of comfort. My husband ordered the special: grandma?s Portuguese pork plate. Also delicious. We shared a bowl of bean soup. Yes, delicious! What started out as a pit stop for a quick bite turned into a greatmeal meeting some great people. Thanks for making us feel so welcome, Marlene and Archie! The Vet and the Sooner
