Come here every time I visit Ipoh. The hosts are wonderful nice people. This bar is truly unique and feels like back in time. No ruffles, only wonderful hosts, cheap beers and a beautiful atmosphere. A must visit. It brings all newer pretentious (and very expensive) bars to shame.

During my last trip to Ipoh I had the privilege of coming back in the historic Sinhalese Bar. Founded in 1931, this iconic irrigation hole has been serving the people of Ipoh and its visitors for over 91 years. When I walked through his doors, I immediately became of the charm, warmth and character that remained intact in the decades. The bar itself is decorated with vintage memorabilia, old photographs and antique furniture that remind a nostalgic atmosphere of a bygone era. The wooden beam counter, a stunning middle piece, has stood the test of time and shows countless conversations, laughs and common memories.
