Polite and accommodating staff, vintage old-timey vibe, and the chicken fried steak was amazing (even the breading was drool-worthy). Hamburger steak was also incredibly good. And I do not like gravy, but I ate every bit of this gravy that they served here. It was that good. Their yeast rolls are fluffy and taste homemade, like they just came out of the oven. The fries, goodness gracious, looked and tasted like ACTUAL fries and NOT something out of a bag. The fries alone stole my heart/stomach/tastebuds.
This restaurant was a unique experience. While on the road for a long time, I stopped for lunch. I wasn't expecting much, but this restaurant was very charming. The service and food were great. They even had a little gift shop with candies and homemade jewelry.
Stopped here on a road trip coming back from San Antonio, good food and most of the meals come with your choice of salad bar or soup. Big portions and very tasty.
Well, this might be the only vegan-possible place in Junction. If you are okay with a salad with limited choices, this it it. A lot of the salad bar items are non-vegan, so I had to skip them. There was no quinoa, beans, sprouts, or significant sources of plant protein in the bar. The salad was better than the DQ salad, which set a low bar. I don't know. Maybe the waitress was tired. She seemed kind of busy and not looking to talk. When I asked for baked potato, she said they were out. End sentence. She didn't offer any other ideas or sympathy. I guess it seemed cold. Towards the end of the meal she got slightly friendlier when my dad was trying to strike chit chat. The salad bar was also pretty dark. I guess they want to hide the food in the dark? It could use some more lights. The bath tub as the base of the bar was neat. My dad seemed happy with his meal.
