Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónI wasn't overly impressed by Shiraaz, but it's not a bad choice for a meal.
I am still a fan of this restaurant, but my second visit was not as enjoyable as the first. The service was just okay and the korma dish was seriously over-spiced.
I sometimes stop by Shiraaz for lunch during the week.
We waited and waited to give our order, which eventually after others who came after us had ordered, someone finally came to the table. Then we waited, and waited and waited to not get the drinks we ordered let alone any food. After complaining that we hadn't received drinks we finally received them after having to re-order, and then after waiting and waiting again we had to ask what happened to our food order. Other tables were also complaining. The food, when it finally came after an hour or so of waiting, was not very good. Definitely would never go back to this restaurant. The waiters were inexperienced and had been left to fend as best they could with absolutely no direction, or training it would seem, and the kitchen was obviously totally inefficient and disorganised. The food was mostly bland or just simply not good.
I've been to Shiraaz twice now. The first time I had the Chicken Rendang which was tremendous. The spices tasted very fresh and it was the best chicken/Indian dish I've had in a long time from anywhere. The second time I tried the Beef Vindaloo, again the spice mix was fresh and delicious. I personally like my vindaloo very hot, and it didn't quite meet my desire for heat, however I understand that not everyone likes their Vindaloo as spicy as I do. I highly recommend dropping in to try the Chicken Rendang if you are in the Castlemaine area and have a hankering for some fine Indian cuisine!
