Very New York brunch experience! Took a little scenic detour from walking the Hudson line. Very good brunch and drinks. Thanks for capturing our unofficial 20+ Hugh school reunion!
I don 't like to write negative reviews unless something really awkward happens but this was AWKWARD. We had been going to this place on the weekend for brunch for months. So much so that the waiters knew what we would order when we arrived. Last week, however, when we got there, there were only 2 occupied tables so we asked to sit at a table where we usually sit. There was a skinny redhead guy that we hadn 't seen before behind the bar who just looked at us and just said You can 't . I looked at him and said Really? . He said they had a group coming in and it was reserved. No I 'm sorry or anything. Just YOU CAN 'T!Another waiter who knew us offered us a choice of a table right beside a speaker (no) and one right beside the pastry display. We reluctantly took the second one. As it turned out, the pastry display blew out hot air at us the whole time.We of course watched and waited for the large party to arrive. They never did! The red headed guy even brought our food without a word.We finished eating and as we left we told the staff that we hoped their party would arrive. The redhead looked at us and just said something about their policy about reservations. Well, it 's the weekend again and my husband and I both said we don 't want to go back there anymore. I hope the owner reads this and does something about this guy 's people skills because we really like this place and their eggs Benedict and eggs Hemingway is reliably good.
Cute little hole in the wall restaurant that I would have likely missed if it wasn't for Yelp, especially since there's construction around the restaurant at the moment. Since we were there on a holiday weekend, I called in advance to make sure that they would have a table available for us, and they were very accommodating. When we showed up, our table was ready, and we were promptly seated. It's quite cozy inside with no more than a few handful of tables. When I first walked in, I did wonder if we were in the right place since it looked more like a little cafe. It was clean inside though and well ventilated with the kitchen hidden in the back, making it seem smaller than it is. It's casual but inviting. Two of us, including myself, got the tagliatelle bolognese, and we agreed it was delicious. The other two individuals in our group got the gnocchi one got the special with pesto and the other got the one in red sauce. Both loved their meals as well; I had a bite of the gnocchi and found it light and pillowy as it should be. We all got drinks as well, and I got the Moscow mule. It was a little bitter, but overall pretty good. The service was attentive and good, and I was very happy to have found this restaurant thanks to Yelp! I'd be happy to come back for lunch the next time I visit NYC.
The food I had was okay, but the match latte and the cappuccino was not good, no taste and the waitress was mad and showed her attitude when my friend ordered wrong drink. When we check out we wait for the bill to come we want to slit for pay, they said we have to go to inside and pay instead of sit on the table and wait for them to do that. I will never go back there again.
