Came here with my family and we loved it the service was fantastic, and they fit us in with an earlier seating which we really appreciated after other places said they didn't have anything available until 9pm! Got the scallops for an appetizer, and these were the bomb! So fresh, and unlike scallops in the U.S., they are prepared with the roe which are so so tasty *drool* . We got some flights of white wine and champagne our server was very knowledgeable and very accommodating when two of the champagnes that were poured were flat, which we really appreciated. We got the monk fish, lamb, and smoked salmon. I was excited by the menu description of the smoked salmon, but I think it is definitely more of something to share...the flavor can be a little bit overpowering and tiring after awhile. But the first few bites were tasty, so if shared, that's all you need! The monk fish was perfectly cooked, and I was a very happy camper with that dish. Hands down though, the lamb steals the show. It's uniquely prepared, with this almond?/fig?/some sort of amazing crack filling rolled into it, and the meat is so juicy and tender. In one of my other reviews, I mentioned that I'm really not much of a lamb eater...but for this dish, I was a lamb convert. It's the silver fern lamb? So...completely grass fed, and I don't know if that's the magic juice, but seriously...this lamb is amaze balls. My dad was talking about this dish for weeks. If I ever find myself lucky enough to be in New Zealand again and we come through here, I want to get the steak as well!! Our server said that the steak and the lamb have won awards in New Zealand...I kind of wish that he told us that before we ordered probably would've gotten the steak instead of the smoked salmon , but it gives us something to come back for! If you find yourself in Blenheim looking for a good meal, be sure to check out this place!
We tried the mocacchino and It was really nice for the price (Just $4.70) but the second time we went, they served it in a recyclable cup like if it was for a takeaway (not so nice). Another day we tried the fries, fish and other stuff plate for share (it says for 4 people but is ok for 2) and it was really good.
Great place to chill and dine in. I ordered mixed grill which was not bad but i was a bit slightly disappointed that they did not offer any sauce to the grill. Just plain grill meat with basic seasoning. The other that i ordered which shared with my friend were seafood chowder with garlic bread and ribeye steak with mushroom sauce. Now both of those were way delicious than the mixed grill and the garlic bread really was surprisingly good. That is my recommendation, garlic bread and the ribeye steak.
The staff was lovely even though there was 11 of us they managed to serve us all with a big smile I will definitely eating there again
