Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónPaying £7.40 for two fish cakes and a small portion of chips feels like a rip-off. Smiths on Yarborough Rd offers the same quality for only £4.50. I predict that Russell's won't last much longer with such high prices. Goodbye Russell's.
Very disappointed. Usually excellent fish and chips but tonight the fish was dry and overcooked, difficult to separate from the skin and the chips were limp and insipid, not very hot. Hope this was a one off! Friday 9 June teatime
Called in for fish and chips. Speedy, friendly service, great price, and great food. Strongly recommend the fish and chips.
I stopped by this restaurant while visiting family who live nearby. We couldn't leave Grimsby without trying their famous fish and chips. Even though they were closing soon, the staff made us two small portions of freshly battered fish and chips, served with peas and curry sauce. The fish was deliciously cooked to order, with a light and crispy batter and tender flaky white fish. The chips were perfectly cooked, not too underdone or overdone. The meal was presented neatly with a friendly smile, and it was clear that the staff worked well together. If we lived in the area, we wouldn't want to go anywhere else for fish and chips. We will definitely be back next time we're in town. Thank you.
I have been dining at Russell's for as long as I can remember, since the 1980s I believe. The food has always been consistently good. After Russell retired, the quality did decline for a while. However, on my recent visit, I noticed that Sophie, one of the regular servers, was responsible for frying. The food she prepared reminded me of my childhood - fried to perfection. They should definitely have her frying more often. If I could rate the food more than 5 stars, I would. Well done, Sophie.
