Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónWith a TV spot on "You Gotta Eat Here" and a gigantic sign boasting their fame, I don't understand all the hype. We stopped in on a trip north to sample some real BBQ fare, but that didn't happen.Even though it was Tuesday - the day for ribs specials - we didn't see anyone eating ribs. Instead, we saw a lot of chicken items - roasted (not BBQ'd), wraps, sandwiches - hot & cold. Our group ordered a chicken wrap, a chicken sandwich, a BLT and the pulled pork sandwich (mine). Why anyone thinks that putting coleslaw on a pulled pork sandwich is a good idea is beyond me, but it sure made it messy and took away from the pork itself. While there was lots of it, the pork couldn't have been BBQ'd and was drowned in an overly sweet BBQ sauce. It just wasn't very good. The chicken dishes were described as "pretty good' but, again, the chicken didn't have either a smoky or a BBQ flavour. Now, in fairness, we didn't try the ribs - too much for lunch while on a long drive - so I'd probably give the ribs or the chicken & rib combo a whirl another time.
saw that it was counter service. I ended up getting a combo platter with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. Everything was so tender and flavorful, and the BBQ sauce was delicious. The portions were generous and I left feeling extremely satisfied. It's definitely worth a visit if you're a fan of ribs or BBQ!
Not impressed. It was just okay for us. The restaurant didn't meet our expectations following its appearance on "You Gotta Eat Here!"
Swiss Chalet used to serve great rotisserie chicken, delicious ribs, and fresh-cut fries, but we no longer enjoy dining there.
This is a place I have been going to since I was a child. It was a regular stop on the way to the lake district. We decided to give it a try again recently and it has not aged well. The food was bland and overcooked and the portions seemed very small. While the sauces were tasty they didn't really help the dry chicken. I had the rib and chicken combo (discounted on Tuesday nights) and the rib portion was almost laughable. I think it was the tail end of the smallest rack of ribs on the planet. The decor is right out of the 60's and this doesn't help the overall experience. I think we will give this place a pass in the future. Sadly it's not gotten better with age.
