Sadly, this BBQ joint is going downhill.. more expensive and food quality going down.. I ordered BBQ sandwich..and watched as he cut me a sandwich of dry looking brisket..but I didn say anything.. but when I took a bite, it was dry cold and tasted like cardboard..awful.. so I took it back got money back and left.. honestly, the only BBQ I tasted that was worse was at Green Mesquite in AUstin.. and believe me, that place is awful.. San Marcos BBQ can be great.. but serving cold, dry brisket is not a good way to keep customers. May give them one more try..
We pick up bbq from here often. Very basic atmosphere but terrific bbq. We especially love the turkey and brisket. We are near other well known bbq spots such as Blacks and Coopers, but we would choose this one for the food, for sure!
Everyone was friendly and foot was fantastic. Mac n cheese was great the sausage was superb and the chopped beef was terrific. The spicy sauce is the way to go. Do it. Go get you some!!!!
My fiancé and I were leaving Wimberley and we were craving BBQ. We went to the nearest BBQ place en route to home. We came right when they opened. We were greeted right away. We purchase chicken, brisket and 2 sides and 2 drinks. All under $30 for 2 people! I was pretty impressed since BBQ can get pricy. Brisket was on the drier side. The BBQ sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. The star of the show was the chicken. Skin was flavorful and crispy. And the chicken was moist. Most places do the opposite and have the chicken drier than the brisket.
