Smilie's Village - Sherwood Park

This was my first visit to Smilie's. We went for lunch at approximately 12:30. Initially we thought it wasn't open as there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. It was open. Upon entering you could go to the restaurant side or lounge side. There were a few people in the lounge but no one on the restaurant side. That should of been our warning! Sadly, we went for the buffet. The salad selection was good. Lots of fresh items to build your own salad. There was also three different soups. Cream of Mushroom, Wonton and Hot & Sour soup. I love Hot & Sour soup so went for it. It was bland and boring. The hot food selections had a lot of deep fried items like onion rings, egg rolls, perogies, breaded chicken skewers, chicken wings & chicken balls. There was only one mixed stir fried vegetable dish which was dried out bitter broccoli and cauliflower. Other choices were mostly starches, rice and three types of noodles. I did like the taste of their sweet and sour pork but it was tougher than a shoe. There was also mashed potatoes and meatballs in gravy. The potatoes tasted sour and the meatballs were pretty boring. As for the dessert selections, it was probably the best part of the meal. Lots of fresh fruits, squares and puddings. The buffet cost $16 per person. Bottom line.....won't go back.

We had a good meal however some of the members of the party said some of the food was a little off in taste.

Visited the buffet with family at 7:45 p.m. The food was dried out and old, some dishes had very little in the tray. Waitress came around and told us we had better go for more now because the buffet was being shut down this was at 8:30. We were astonished at the lack of customer service. I went to get more food but there was nothing there that I felt was worth eating For the Price $$$ we felt ripped offWill not be returning

I have friends living in Sherwood Park. When I visit, having a steak sandwich in the bar at Smilies is top of the list of things to do. It's excellent and good value for money. The last time we were there, my friend had the buffet from the dining room and she loved it. She said the selection was great. The staff in the bar and the dining room are lovely. They are very friendly and couldn't be more attentive.

This was a good place to eat, a bit pricey but the food was worth it and everything was fresh and so good I ate way to much!! The salad bar surprised me with all the selections!!!
