I noticed the price had gone up but I really enjoyed this last time I had it. When it arrived it was chunks of roast beef, obviously cooked previously, with some gravy . There was no caramelised onion and the side salad was a single sprig of something green and dry. My friend and I were both very disappointed. Fool me once.
Just came here for breakfast with Santa and had to write a review immediately. Not only was the experience magical of seeing Santa walking around and sitting down for a chat and my son then receiving a present, the breakfast itself was quite possibly the best I've ever had and amazing value for money. Wish I could've personally given the compliment to the chefs.
A Christmas lunch with friends. Our lovely organiser travelled to The Mill and placed our deposit and a preorder for our lunch. The gentleman took one copy and she retained another. We arrived prompt and on time and our organiser had printed each one of us a copy of our preorder so there would be no mistakes…. You’d think. We all received our correct starter except one who had to wait 20 minutes for hers. By then we had all eaten ours. Poor. And then we waited and we waited and yes we waited an hour and no mains till an approach was made asking where it was. You could see through the kitchen doorway and there were several plates on the hot counter sitting there sometime. So we all got the correct main Horray. But some were cold some were warm and some were hot, the extra vegetables that had been ordered weeks ago must have been forgotten because they arrived barely cooked. The sprouts were rock hard and uncooked. However the food although cold was tasty. Dessert arrived and was very nice. Coffee and mince pies were lovely to. There was only one waitress on and one bar staff. The poor waitress was run off her feet and when the barman came to give her a hand there was no one to serve drinks in the bar. There were men loudly whistling to try and get served. Our group gave up on getting another drink. No one apologised or gave any reason for such poor meals. Would I go there again definitely not.
We had booked our Christmas party here a few months ago. ALL food was pre-ordered. 1 starter was missed completely and when it did arrive we had all finished. We then had to wait an hour for our main courses. Some of them had been sitting on the hot plate for 10 minutes. When one of our party complained that we were about to leave the food started to arrive. The plates were lukewarm, as was nearly all of the food. We had had to ask for the veg to be brought out as the food was getting cooler. The sprouts were rock hard and couldn't be eaten. The waitress was very good, BUT they was no management on duty. A few of us went to the bar but gave up despite another customer whistling for service. Glasses and water bottles on the table were dirty. My drink was returned because of lipstick on the glass. This really was an appalling service. They were very understaffed and very ill prepared.
After searching for restaurants in the Eccleshall area via Google, we stumbled upon this gem. Despite most places in town closing their kitchens at 3pm, we were pleased to find a lovely and warm bar area with delicious food at a reasonable price. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Even though we live outside the area, we think it's well worth a trip back there. We highly recommend this great restaurant.
