The greyhound has a lovely setting by the ponds, great you can park the car. But the food was very average. Particularly disappointing was the kids meals. The kids roast was ok, but the kids ‘fish and chips’ consisted of fish fingers rather than fish as you’d expect in ‘fish and chips’ and was such a tiny portion, 3 tiny fingers of fish. Not a vegetable in sight, no peas, no nothing, and it was £10! My 10 year old was disappointed, this was suited to perhaps a 5 year olds meal. If serving fish fingers, call it fish fingers. And serve something with it aside from just chips, too tight to add in some peas or beans it seems. Adult roasts again were average and ok, wouldn’t rush back, and so expensive. I had the pie, served in a bowl, with gravy at the bottom, chips swimming in the gravy and a pie sitting on top, impossible to cut and eat. Who serves a pie in a bowl and who wants chips under a pie swimming in gravy. Just weird. Sticky toffee for desert was a good portion and tasty but the lemon meringue tart, although delicious, was such a tiny tiny slice! More a slither. The bill for 5 of us was £163, that’s with 1 Guinness and 3 soft drinks, plus food of 5 mains (2 of which were kids meals! and 5 deserts plus 2 starters. 3 adults and 2 kids. Standard of food does not live up to the price tag. Service was good though! But I’d advise checking out other local establishments first, both for price and quality. It was also 4 degrees outside and they had the air con on rather than any heating. They did turn it off when asked but it remained cold in there.
This charming pub has a fantastic menu and a wonderful staff that is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it for a meal or even just a drink. An added bonus is the ample parking available.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, and the food was incredibly tasty. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back in the future!
Had the beef and ale pie for dinner and it was lovely. Plenty of meat and gravy with vegetables. I would definitely recommend it. The Greyhound staff were very friendly and efficient and I could see they were working very hard. The Pub had a friendly atmosphere and was clean and tidy and the location was great too. Opposite were the Carshalton Ponds and the shops were nearby so it would be a nice place to stay.
