In a simple no fuss friendly style, Jako superbly presents Korean and Japanese food that is fresh, delicious, and good value for money. All the Japanese and Korean favourites are on the menu in equal measure. Traditional foods presented with a touch of modern style...without being miserly on portion size. For us it is worth driving in from the Centenary Suburbs, located as it is just off Milton Road in Toowong.
With a more affordable menu than most similar Brissy restaurants, truly delicious fresh and authentic dishes, and a friendly peaceful environment, I cannot recommend another restaurant in the area this highly. It became a regular haunt for my friends and I, the kind of food...and atmosphere you miss when traveling. You cannot miss a visit to Jako.
We dined tonight on Friday night. The entrees and main main courses are of very poor standard not even home made standard. I ordered the okinomiyaku for entree and the sauce was too salty and sour and the mixed vegetables were soggy. My friend ordered...the pork katsudon and was dry. The main course we ordered were spicy pork belly served with stone bowl but they messed up the order and it came out as a normal rice bowl with pieces of thin pork belly slices and lots of cabbage and julienne sizes of capcicum. My friend tempura udon which has only two prawns I think were bought from Coles. Poor experience.
This place has gone through a couple of menu changes, however they have managed to whittle it down to a few star performers! The veggie tonight had the Spicy Tofu. I asked how it was and if I could have some and was chastised for...attempting to go the skin. I was subsequently told that I t was that good and I had more than enough chicken skin to consume. She was right.. I had both sweet spicy and honey soy fried Chicken to attack, complete with fries! The fries were spectacular, clean and crisp. Can tell they were cooked with clean oil! The veggie commented “they are amazing!” Chicken was delicious, and I enjoyed washing it down with my BYO Asahi! Can’t recommend enough, get here to check it out
