From appetizers to primi or secondi, each dish is carefully prepared, beatifully plated and elegantly flavoured. The chef is a true culinary craftsman, paying attention to all the details. Many of the traditional Tuscan fare is here, but raised up a notch or two. A full regular menu with daily specials that you must take note of. Although the restaurant caters to the hotel guests, it should be on the radar map for anyone spending time in this area of Tuscany, it's really that good! My only regret is that we were so stuffed that we could not even contemplate dessert, which I know would have been equally scrumptous. I will defintely return here again,, especially when it's warmer out to enjoy the al fresco experience on the terrace. The hotel also looks to be very welcoming.
My only regret is that we have waited this long to write a review. My partner and I were returning from a day trip in Assissi and it was 9:25 on a Tuesday evening. We were very tired and hungry and when we walked up to the restaurant entrance in Hotel Rotelle, the sign said they were closed at 9:30. We feared the worst and when we asked if it were to late to order a meal that's when the welcome mat was rolled out and we were led to our table by Andrea. He was a very big man with an even bigger heart. He made us feel welcome and in no rush. He recommended a wonderful wine from a local vineyard in Montepulciano and read some specials. Angela and I were already hooked on the Cinghiale (wild boar) ragu and the Pici pasta and we also ordered una bistecca (steak). The meal was superb and the attention we got from Andrea was the best in service we have ever experienced. He was professional, but funny, knowledgeable and yet we all had fun practicing our languages skills...us in Italian and Andrea in English and a little help from our IPad translator. To this day we tell our friends back here in Boston about our evening of great food and superb service in a wonderful and welcoming ristorante. We are planning to return to Tuscany, but not soon enough for our liking. If you are there or are planning to visit soon make this place a definite stop! Grazie Mille Andrea! We have enjoyed dinner in this restaurant 4 times during our holiday and we were very satisfied about everything: the food, the friendly waiter/waitress, the beautyful place and the reasonable prices. We also visited other restaurants in the area but this one was our absolute favourite. We highly recommand this restaurant!
Charming restaurant located in the Hotel Rotelle. Our first meal here, lunch, was so wonderful, we decided to come back to spend a night at the hotel just so we could enjoy another meal. We were so impressed, changed some travel plans and came back not once, but two more times over the next 10 days for a total of 5 additional nights at the hotel. What can I say we loved it. The anti pasti, soups, pasta, steak were all fabulous and the chicken limone was outstanding. (I'm one of the Americans mentioned in a previous review that was requesting the recipe thanks for the translation David from Rome. Can't wait to get home to try it and see if I can come close to that heavenly dish Now, after all my raving about the food (all at extremely reasonable prices , I cannot say enough about the host/waiter/wine aficionado Andrea. What an asset he is to that establishment. So friendly, warm, funny, and wanting so much to please. Even though our Italian is limited to about 5 phrases somehow Andrea could figure out what we wanted, sometimes before we even asked and was quick to provide us with such excellent service absolutely amazing. With such a great combination of food and friendly service we really looked forward to our dinner each evening (along with the great breakfast with such wonderful pastries . After 5 weeks in Europe, I can honestly say that Hotel Rotelle and the Ristorante I Girasoli have been the hi lite of our trip so far. Don't know how soon we'll be able to make it back to Tuscany but as long as Giglioli and Andrea are in residence we wouldn't think of staying or dining anywhere else. Wish I could win the lotto and make them an offer they couldn't refuse to get them to come home with us.
We arrived in Chuisi via train, picked up our car, and then drove around trying to get a lay of the land nd wnated to see where our villa was located. In addition since we could only check in at 4p we wanted to find a cute place for lunch. We found this restaurant by accident as we kept getting lost. This restaurant did not disappoint with delicious food and a hilltop setting overlooking the valley. We were the only diners in the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. We all decided to have the plate of the day which was well priced and included starters, main course, desert, wine, and water. Since this is an area of Italy that makes the fantastastic Pici pasta, we all decided on a starter but with different sauces. Ours was with the pepper sauce--awesome. everything was done to perfection and was a great start to our week in Tuscany. Could not beat the price for 4. Since the restaurant is part of a hotel we walked around a bit. The surroundings seem nice and the interior was tastefully decorated. It looks like they may do weddings or special events in their large backyard which has a stunning view of the valley. Somewhat hard to find but well worth the trip if you are in the area.
