Probably the best alpine lunch I've ever had. I had the beef and it was absolutely fantastic! (The service was also excellent, cried to the waitress with dark curly hair I think her name was Ellia? my family are not so fantastic in French and she was 20/10 helpful in the translation of the menu and explains everything in detail). Nice location too!
Favourite mountain restaurant en route back to the village. The best ravioli in Val. It has expanded yet again and still superb. A hidden gem but need to phone in advance to book
We stumbled across l'Edelweiss on Sunday after skiing over from Tignes. Most tables were booked, apparently by French day skiers, which probably tells you all you need to know. We were there soon after 12, and the Maitre tried at length to juggle to find us a table in the sunshine. He offered a table inside, but it was too nice, so we declined and took our leave. He continued to juggle, and then came racing after us, offering a table outside if we could vacate by 1.30. This was impressive. He went the extra mile when he had no need to it is not like they need the business, and plenty were unlucky after us. The food and service were outstanding in every respect. On overhearing my joking criticism of my daughters for eating all the olives I was served a portion of my own all with good humour. Above and beyond. We left with a complimentary genepi and and much good cheer. It was the last day of our holiday and l'Edelweiss made it perfect. We will definitely be going back, with a reservation, of course.
I have tried this place a few times now but only once, several years ago, got a good meal. It is very busy but they dont seem to be able to turn down any booking, so even a reservation has you standing around for ages for your table and even then, very hard to get any service. The food is odd too. I wouldnt recommend the duck with schezuan pepper. Flavour but not the spice. Very nice for an afternoon drink stick to that.
