Visited them twice last year and found it good. Decent ambiance and service, plus value for money food. Had tried their veg Thali, iftar meal items were flavorful. We enjoyed our visit.
I was told by a Pakistani neighbor of mine to try out this place. Now keep in mind I grew up on the northshore and we folks never have restaurants like these. So I decided to grab a snack. I was greeted by a nice lady. She recommended the beef nihari, as well as to add their house Naan bread. So far so good service is fast and friendly. Ambience and decor is simple, clean. When the food came omg... The beef shank smelled amazing... Wow and the color with ginger and onions. The spice was amazing! This is their boldest spice dish and man I loved it! Naan is fresh and light too. Oh man I'm coming back cause I've been missing out. The lady also mentioned a beef nihari combo, I'll order that next time.<br/ These folks are smart as well to adapt to the community because there is a highschool next door. They have student specials for lunch as well as fast to go items like samosas and pizza! Very clever! I'm definitely coming back, wow... What a nice surprise.<br/ <br/ Update: June 16 2016<br/ Brought my girlfriend here to eat. They had a iftar thali combo special that comes with a sweet rose water drink. It is absolutely delicious... And for 7.95 it's such great value. We both had to pack our food home, were gonna save it for lunch tomorrow. Our service today was consistent as the first day I dropped in to eat the beef nihari dish. While we were dining alot of people came in for take out.<br/
Ever since I live in Downtown Vancouver I always wanted to try the famous 'Gulberg Restaurant '. The Restaurant is easily accessible by bus from anywhere in the lower mainland. It takes a while to get there but after tasting the food I highly recommend to spare some time for it. The staff was very well oriented and the dining area was neat and tidy. The server was quite friendly and he helped me with the vast variety of choices on the menu. I ordered the famous Beef Nihari (made with beef, traditional spices, ginger garlic). I absolutely love the Mix Grill Platter with the famous bread and Yogurt. The portions were very generous and the prices are reasonable. It’s absolutely worth it for the people who love Pakistani/Indian food. After having a wonderful lunch I really want to go back to try their Brunch on the weekends soon!
I live in the neighbourhood and come to eat here almost every week! It is reasonably priced, delicious and authentic, with tasty homemade naan. The staff is friendly like family, and the owner Zafir is very personable with his customers. Favourite dishes would have to be the Mughlai Handee chicken and Shrimp Masala, but everything is excellent!! Hats off to a perfect score!!!
