When this popular food truck came to our neighborhood, we placed an order in advance. Although it was a bit pricey, we are big fans of BBQ. Our experience with the BBQ Sampler was a bit disappointing. The photo of the Sampler showed sliced beef brisket, but ours had chopped brisket instead. The menu description did not specify this, and we prefer sliced brisket. However, the pulled pork and chicken were tasty. Moving on to the Half Rack of Ribs, they were quite large but very fatty. The meat was tough and lacked tenderness. There was also something off about the taste, perhaps a particular spice or type of wood used in the cooking process.
I tried the BBQ brisket and ribs from their food truck and was greatly disappointed. The meat lacked texture, tasting as if it had been cooked in a pressure cooker. The ribs had the same issue. I am someone who pays attention to food texture and mouthfeel, and while some may enjoy their food prepared this way, I was disappointed that the BBQ lacked any smoke flavor. I would not recommend this dish.
Hands down these guys cook THE BEST BBQ in the DMV. I love everything on their menu and have tried everything they had since they opened up. Their Baked beans and greens are perfect for a snack even if you're not hungry for BBQ. Atmosphere clean and friendly. This is a hidden gem in Brightwood. I hope they stay around forever!
The food was really good. Besides the tiny sides, I look forward to going back again!
