My complaint is that I didn't get any sleep all night because of the constant truck traffic, as the Inn literally sits next to the road. The room was also very bright at night due to the large windows next to the street and the hall lights are all night. The rooms are very expensive (over $200), considering that the Inn is located in an area where we are not gas, business, and we had to go to a restaurant for 15 minutes, which was also well overpriced, so I would suggest to eat before you go there. They offer breakfast for extra $20 per, but we rejected.
We've never been to an inn, and we can be pampered forever. This one has a book theme! The lobby is a library/antique bookshop. The 9 guest rooms are named after authors (and are all decorated in different styles. We stay in Tolkien room. Add Alexandra's fresh breakfast on the veranda, and our room windows look over the Champlainsee!
CONCLUSION FOR STATE!!! I can't say enough about this picturesque Inn in Westport! Great location with stunning views of the Champlain Lake. Super friendly and accommodating staff. We will be back DEFINITELY!!!
Well maintained old house, in terms of decorations. Very nice library on the first floor. The house needs a repair to pave the floor, make doors better and close the window. Old houses always have their charm and character. Mattress is not very comfortable. Blanket's old. Television is too small. Owner is nice. Price is not cheap for everything this inn offers. But it is a small town and it is probably the most decent guest house you can find there.
The Inn at Westport is a quaint hideaway gem! Alexandra Anthony pride themselves in creating an experience that is nothing but relaxing. The rooms are decorated similar to the whimsy of the author the rooms are named by. My husband I stayed in the J.R.R. Tolkien room. It was decorated as if you would see the artwork and bedding in one of the houses in the Shire. In the breakfast nook, you have a perfect view of Ballard Park as well as the mountains Lake Champlain. Alexandra loves to talk about the history of the inn, the town, and the area. She truly is knowledgeable, and was nothing but enthusiastic when speaking of the history of: the inn, the town, and the surrounding area. Her love for: books, incantations, art are all represented in their own unique way. Again, her enthusiasm for what she does is represented throughout the inn. I couldn't help but get excited every time I talked to her. Again, a hidden gem that shouldn't be missed! -Marie Z.
