Saw that they are now open again in Brooklin, last time I was there the fish and chips had a greasy taste from the fryer's not being properly cleaned and not set at the correct temp. I know this chain from years ago and always had a good product which ment that management was not following procedure properly I'm hoping that this has all been corrected and am hoping to make a visit in the near future.
My son was up visiting from North Carolina & had a craving for Fish & chips Americans do not make good fish & chips We went up to Captain George's for lunch The fish & chip portion served was more than generous Beautiful light crispy batter not greasy Fish perfectly cooked French fries golden brown None burnt The coleslaw was creamy and delicious. I usually never eat coleslaw served at other restaurants as it tastes nastyMy son & wife really enjoyed their meal Would highly recommend this place
No fish just batter. Well if you count 2 millimeters of paper thin flakes of fish hidden in the batter fish then thats fish. Overcooked cries. Stale coffee. Oh god awefull. I had been driving by this place for years. Its large and been here along time. I should have kept on drving. My mistake just once though. The coleslaw and tartar sauce was homemade and good but that just dont cut it. In all these years here I figured they would be decent but I was so wrong.
As a family we used to go to this restaurant at least once a week for breakfast and once for dinner. The food USED to be good and the staff USED to be great. Whatever has happened in the last year, I don't know. But we stopped going months ago for breakfast due to the poor quality and poor/rude service and management (whoever the cash lady is especially)Tonight we thought we would try takeout for dinner just to see, and boy what a mistake. Ordered a Greek chicken salad, a chicken souvlaki and a kids meal hot dog. Upon getting home and opening the food, the kids meal hot dog looked like it was days old and reheated. I took a bite to make sure looks weren't deceiving and was disgusted. How someone would feed that to a kid is beyond me and is despicable that it was even served to us. The chicken salad had a few sparse pieces of chicken (had ordered this often before and was nothing like it used to be.) asked for extra tatziki for salad and was told there was some in the bag for it, which there wasn't)Chicken souvlaki was so so with a container full of mushy rice. We called them about the hot dog specifically, and the only response we got was to call the manager in the morning. No offer for exchange or refund or a new 8$ kids meal hot dog or any attempt to make things right. Not that we would have anyways, but it just shows how far things have plummeted in the last year or so. Will never return here.
